The Little Cafe at the Edge of Eternity This incredible story originates with the true life adventures of Hector Esponda, but takes a fairy tale turn into a dreamy world of the senses. It's a very visual story about the coexistence of opposites. The real and the unreal are not mutually exclusive. Hector Esponda was very wealthy and successfully at the age of twenty-one, though he felt unconnected. After the realization of death, and an inspiring vision of Saint Francis in the movie Brother Sun, Sister Moon, he literally gave away everything he owned down to his shoes. For a decade or more, Hector stood on his principles, refusing to even touch money. With our production, the medium is the message. The story is about going for your dream and having faith that all the pieces will fall in to place, thus an animated storyboard was created incorporating this aesthetic. Our method allows the light and sound to be the driving force behind the genesis of the story. In a scavenger-hunt manner, we search for, and find, pieces that fit. This is done across all media whether it be storyboard drawings, photos, digital video, sound etc. This results in an incredibly stylish, organic, and extremely well-planned story. We see the timing, we see the movement, we feel the mood; all before the movie has been shot, or scripted for that matter. At this point, anyone involved with making the movie, whether it be actors, camera person, investor etc. will be able to watch the pre-visualization of the entire movie and build upon that. We think this is an pretty cool utilization of modern day digital technology, and the creative environment that it creates is unparalleled. |
